Special interest in pelvic floor physiotherapy

SIGRID DE VRIES

What drew me to physiotherapy was the direct contact with people and the chance to truly make a difference in someone’s daily life. Physiotherapy isn’t just about the body—it’s also about the story behind it: who someone is, what challenges they face, and what they need to move forward.

Since graduating in 2009, I’ve gained a lot of experience in neurological rehabilitation, especially working with spinal cord injuries. I started my career at Reade, where I worked as a physiotherapist for two years. I see the body as a living puzzle, analyzing symptoms, finding connections, and working together with the patient towards recovery or better function. Physiotherapy is such a hands-on profession. You see progress, no matter how small, and you build a relationship of trust with your patient. That combination of human connection, clinical reasoning, and working with clear goals is what makes physiotherapy more than just a job for me, it’s a way of caring that really fits who I am.

In September 2023, I started a Master’s degree in Pelvic Physiotherapy, a specialization that brings together everything I value in my work: personal care, attention to quality of life, and collaboration with different disciplines to get the best possible outcome for the patient. I expect to finish the program in February 2026. At Fysio Westerpark, I’m happy to use my expertise to support people with pelvic or pelvic floor-related issues.
